She walked the earth, content in solitude; blissfully ignorant. Her life was planned out. Or so, she thought. Nothing could surprise her, until that fateful day - that day destiny decided to sprinkle her & an oblivious individual with beautiful chaos.
It didn’t strike her down in an instant. The thoughts, the inklings, they were subtle. Her ability to dismiss such foolishness was unquestionable.
This other individual … This one was a special case.
He could tune the world out whenever he desired. His mastery of impassiveness was impressive. Little did he care about how he was perceived. To hell with all those senseless assumptions about his character. He knew he had a life mapped out; he wanted nothing more, nothing less, than what he foresaw himself turning out to be.
What these two individuals did not know was the formidable obstacle: destiny. And as fate would have it, irony stepped in, poised to attack. Everything was unpredictable. Despite what they knew they wanted, fate would not allow it. After all, it was never up to them to decide. All they were, were mere chess pieces, slowly being placed they knew nowhere of. But they were there.
It was there. All that had to happen, was life. Life filled with so many realizations, questions, confusion. Handpicked to be victims in the bittersweet quest for clarity, to this day, they remain. One unmoving, the other unfeeling.
What happens next? Will the next chapter shed light on the vagueness? Or will some more of fate’s spells render them once more rooted to the spot they were purposely placed? If one wills it to stop, the other, in secret, desires more: more to take in, to enjoy. Truly the masochist. No advances made, no steps back tracked. The present is all there is to it.
Trust that someday, in time’s favor, the collision of two very different worlds will finally, finally make sense.
